Do You Know the Farm

Behind Your Food?

At Lower Blakemere Farm, everything starts with soil health. By enriching our soils, we aim to grow better crops, raise healthier cattle and pigs, and support a thriving wildlife habitat. Our regenerative farming captures carbon in the soil, helping the environment while boosting productivity.

It’s Not the Cows – It’s How You Farm

The idea that cows are harming the planet? Not here. Our pasture-fed cattle, combined with smart grazing and crop rotation, reduces emissions and enhances biodiversity. Our pigs and seed and crop production help maintain a balanced, sustainable farm ecosystem.

Our story began in the early 1980s when Adrian and Valli Gorringe took over the tenancy of Lower Blakemere Farm and set it up as specialist seed growers with a herd of primarily South Devon cattle. Adrian worked hard to build the business efficiently, laying the foundation for what the farm is today. Phil took over in the 90’s when Adrian retired and has carried on and developed the vision, with Monty now playing a central role. While we started with a focus on chemical inputs to ensure seed quality, we have since embraced regenerative farming, which prioritises soil health, biodiversity, and sustainable practices, ensuring a future for both seed production and cattle farming.

Diversification and Innovation

We don’t stop at farming. Through Wiggly Wigglers, we offer wildlife-friendly products, and with UK MiniTrucks, we provide versatile, practical second hand vehicles for farms and beyond. We’re always evolving with an aim to meet the needs of our community.

FARMING FOR THE FUTURE

We’re proud to produce top-quality beef, pork, and crops while protecting our land for the next generation. At Lower Blakemere Farm, we are aiming to show how farming, wildlife, and sustainability work together – right here in Herefordshire.
