If you want to know where your beef came from, we can do a lot better than a supermarket barcode…
Our cattle are born and reared here at Lower Blakemere Farm in Herefordshire. They are then finished nearby with our farmer friend Will near Tenbury before the beef is dry-aged, professionally butchered, vacuum packed and labelled by Griffiths of Leintwardine – a small traditional abatoir and butcher.
Depending on the animal, the available Beefy Box may contain Stabiliser or Angus-cross beef. We will always tell you clearly which it is.
Different cattle. The same farm, the same trusted local farming chain and the same commitment to proper beef.
Real cattle, real farmers and a farm you can actually see.
At least 8kg of useful beef, packed and ready for plenty of proper meals.
Steaks and joints alongside mince, burgers, braising beef and slower cuts.
Not a production line. When one batch is spoken for, the next available dateswill be shown..
If we cannot supply your box, or there is a genuine problem when it arrives, we
will refund you.

The beef is not cheap food. It is good-value, properly
farmed food—and £10 off makes the first freezer shelf a little easier.
Choose Your Delivery Batch
The cattle have not signed up to next-day delivery.
Proper farm food is ready when it is ready, so each Beefy
Box below has its own expected delivery period.
Choose the date that suits you, pay in full when you order
and your box is reserved.
Each dated box will clearly show:
Every Beefy Box contains at least 8kg of mixed beef
from one animal.
A typical box includes a balanced selection of:
The exact cuts and pack sizes vary slightly because cattle are animals, not production lines.
That is also why a Beefy Box offers such good overall value. You receive the valuable steak and roasting cuts, but you also receive
the everyday favourites and slower cuts that help us use the whole animal properly.
Some of the less fashionable cuts are also the ones with the most flavour.
You mostly need one freezer shelf.
A Beefy Box gives you the makings of:
One box. Quite a lot of very good dinners.
We’re Farmers, Not Butchers
That is rather the point.
We breed and rear the cattle here at Lower Blakemere.
Our farmer friend Will takes them through the finishing stage nearby, making sure they reach the right condition for excellent beef.
Griffiths of Leintwardine know how to mature, butcher and pack the beef properly.
We know the cattle. They know the cuts. You get the best of both.
Rather than operating like an online butcher and selling only the flashy bits, we divide each animal into 22 balanced Beefy Boxes.
That means every customer receives a useful mixture of premium cuts, everyday cuts and slower cuts.
It gives better overall value, avoids wasting the less fashionable parts of the animal and makes for a much more useful freezer.
What Type of Beef Will I Receive?
Our herd includes Stabiliser and Angus-cross cattle. Each dated Beefy Box will clearly state which type of beef it contains.
Stabiliser beef
Stabilisers are well suited to a grass and forage-based farming system and are bred for balanced growth, natural marbling, tenderness and flavour.
Stabiliser may not be the catchiest name in farming.
Fortunately, the beef is much better than the name.
Angus-cross beef
Angus-cross cattle are rightly known for excellent eating quality, flavour, tenderness and marbling.
We are not trying to make every animal identical.
We rear cattle that suit our farm and produce beef that we are proud to sell. The breed or cross will always be clearly stated on the dated box.
No mysteries and no surprises—apart from possibly discovering that braising beef is every bit as useful as steak.
Cows get a lot of hassle. We think it is important to look at the whole farming system.
At Lower Blakemere, our cattle graze pasture, banks, field edges and areas that are difficult or unsuitable to crop.
They turn grass and forage that people cannot eat into useful food.
During the winter they eat forage from the farm, including our grass-seed straw. During the finishing stage with Will they continue to receive forage, alongside barley and minerals to ensure they finish properly and produce excellent beef.
We are not claiming that they live on fresh grass alone all year round.
We would rather tell you accurately how they are farmed.
Their muck returns nutrients and organic matter to our
arable land, supporting soil life, soil structure and the crops we grow.
Soil. Cattle. Crops. Muck. It is a cycle.
It is not just the cow.
It is how.
Buying directly means your food money goes back into the farm and the next generation of farming.
It helps us:
It also means that when you ask where your beef came from, there is a real answer.

be pleased with the food you buy from us.
A Beefy Box takes up roughly one normal freezer shelf or drawer, depending on how efficiently you stack it.

We make the boxes as fair and consistent as possible.
No. We are not operating as a butcher. The Beefy Box is designed to use the whole animal properly and give you a balanced selection of premium, everyday and slower-cooking cuts.

During winter and the finishing period they may also receive barley, minerals and other appropriate feed to make sure they remain
healthy and finish properly.
Each animal produces approx. 22 Beefy Boxes.
Taking payment when you order reserves your box and keep the system simple for everyone.

Please wait until we have confirmed that your Beefy Box is ready before setting off. The cattle may be patient, but there is no need to test yours.
Unless the individual product says otherwise, the beef is sent chilled so you can use it fresh or freeze it at home.
Chilled delivery options and charges will be shown at checkout and on the individual product.
Where possible, we will include photographs of the actual cattle or group from which that dated batch comes.
That is rather more traceability than a barcode normally manages.
