Barn Hire at Lower Blakemere
Our Bad Harvest Barn sits in the middle of our working farm at Lower Blakemere, about 25 minutes from Hereford. It’s very rustic, with old beams, brick walls, twinkly lights and the odd moo or tractor in the background.
The barn is booked by The Harvest Project School on a regular basis during term time, but the main barn, with the kitchen, is available at weekends and in the school holidays. (This doesn’t include the reception room or the decking.)
In the 2027 summer holidays the whole barn, including the main barn, reception room, decking and kitchen, will be available from Thursday 22 July to Wednesday 1 September 2027.
The barn is perfect for rustic DIY weddings and events. You’re welcome to use the barn’s tables and chairs. You set up yourselves, and we do the cleaning afterwards, so we just ask that you leave the barn as you found it. The barn isn’t licensed, so please arrange your own licensed bar.
Full weekend wedding hire is only available in the summer holidays. It gives you three days in the barn: Friday is your set-up day, Saturday is the wedding itself (all celebrations must end by midnight), and Sunday is for clearing up and leaving the barn as you found it.
As it’s part of a working farm, please stay in the barn, kitchen and loos (and the decking area in the summer holidays). There’s free parking by the barn.

***** Loved this place! Colleagues & I met here, some from midlands and some from south wales, so we met here in the middle. The Barn is set in beautiful countryside, very rural on a working farm - we met Heather who made us all very welcome and everything was prepared for what we needed. Plenty of parking. Spacious main barn area, very tidy and clean, and private toilets. We met in the summer and it was lovely and airy but I bet it’s very cosy when it’s cold and rainy out. I can thoroughly recommend for a meeting or event. - Byron
***** Brilliant event space! Very warm welcome, tasty food and fab ambiance! - Juliette
***** We have held several meetings and events at Bad Harvest Barn and will definitely be going there again. With plentiful parking and excellent facilities, the Barn offers a warm, cosy yet purposeful atmosphere, with good access to technology for presentations and meetings. - Tanya
***** We used this meeting room to gather prior to a funeral. A stunning building in a beautuful area. The hosts were welcoming and generous to the guests. The facilities are immaculate and the decor is classy. Perfect for a wake, family gathering or business meeting/ training. Would highly recommend - Elayne
While the barn is ideal for meetings and training sessions, its flexible design also makes it a great choice for team-building events, small workshops, or informal networking gatherings. It’s a practical, down-to-earth venue with plenty of character.

"We used Bad Harvest Barn for a meeting between local farmers and it was the perfect space for the group. It’s done beautifully and the layout and flow of the space is ideal and practical for welcoming guests in before they go through to the main room. It was also great at lunch time to have the food in one room and seating the other. Car parking and bathroom facilities were also excellent. Overall, a very well thought out space with lovely finishing touches that really make it."
"Our annual get-together of twenty business leaders were looking for a venue in the Wye Valley and were pleased to find Lower Blakemere Farm. Having the seclusion of a rural setting to walk around is definitely a bonus over the usual business estate. The car parking and signs were good, with a reasonable amount of concrete (for a farm). The small period barn was both very usable and homely. We used their capable tech facilities, having a continually open line to other members on Zoom. ”
"The Bad Harvest Barn meeting room was the perfect venue for the recent meeting of Herefordshire Rural Hub’s steering group. We were able to take advantage of the excellent on-line facilities when one of our members was able to join us virtually from his lambing shed. This beautifully restored barn is ideal for off-site meetings, training events and other functions."
