Our Dogs

Our Farm Dogs: Marjory, Mavro, and Fern
On the farm, our three dogs – Marjory, Mavro, and Fern – each bring their own distinct personalities and skills to the daily work. While they’re all very different, they each play an important role in keeping things running smoothly.

Marjory the Cairn Terrier
Marjory is getting on a bit now and this means she’s  becoming a little bit grumpy and spends most of her time staying close to the house. Being quite short, she has a habit of getting covered in mud whenever she ventures out. She still keeps a sharp eye out for pests around the farm and does her very best to make sure no rats or mice make their way into the barns. Her small stature is supposed to help get her get into tight spots but Marjory is very keen on snacks so is a little heavier than ideal….

Mavro, the Shar Pei
Mavro - whose name means “Black” in Greek, is a real character on the farm. With his wrinkled face and calm demeanor, he might seem like he’s taking it easy, but don’t be fooled – Mavro is always on the job. Originally bred for herding in ancient China, his instincts are still sharp, and he’s surprisingly skilled. He moves with a quiet confidence around the livestock, guiding them exactly where they need to go without a fuss. His laid-back attitude masks just how alert he really and he  keeps a watchful eye on the farm at all times…

Fern the Fox Red Labrador
Fern is all enthusiasm, all the time. She throws herself into everything with energy, whether it’s helping with herding, retrieving, or just running around the fields. She’s not the most precise at times, but her willingness to help out anywhere is appreciated. She’s also the friendliest of the three, greeting anyone who comes by with a wagging tail and muddy paws.
